Once you've had your initial insights, go deeper.
Sunrise on the Ganges, India
Did you see the sun as rising or setting in this picture? Does it make a difference to you in your interpretation? What are the figures doing? Can you see them clearly? How does the picture affect you? How does it make you feel? What event or time in your life does it remind you of? How does it feel to you to relive that event? Is there a part of you that you have lost touch with, that you would like to get acquainted with again? What do you remember when you go back into misty memories of the past? Can you clear the mist or do the memories remain murky? Are they places you want to explore or ought they be left alone? Sometimes reconnecting with old hurts, pain, or dark corners can be cleansing. Perhaps knowing that this is a sunrise can be the acknowledgement of a new start or the affirmation of eternal rhythms. In fact the photograph is of workers loading a boat at dawn on the Ganges. The name of the river comes from Ganga, the Hindu goddess of purification. These holy waters are used to heal the sick, soothe the weary, cleanse the body and for the immersion of the prayerful. Perhaps with this knowledge, you might return now to the picture for new meaning or for a renewal of spirit. |
