Cosmic Leap
Courtney was in a rubber dingy, bouncing around on the waves while on a whale-watching expedition in the Pacific. Suddenly this female humpback broke the surface and soared into the air. She seemed suspended for a brief instant, then plunged back into the water, causing the raft to bounce more furiously and all occupants to shriek and gasp in disbelief.
Courtney managed three photographs while the whale was in the air, but was totally unprepared for more exposures when an instant later, the baby whale followed its mother into the air!!
